Online Postnatal Course:

Understanding Your Baby

If this is the first time you are a parent, looking after a baby it can be quite a shock! Being a parent is an emotional time for everybody. It’s going to bring up different feelings for different people. Let us help you navigate your own feelings while helping you understand your baby in the process.

In this course, we will be covering some information about your baby, but we will also be thinking about the relationship with the baby. This relationship starts in the womb and continues throughout labour, birth and babyhood.

This course aims to support you in understanding your baby so that you both enjoy your time together and so that you can help your baby to reach their potential.

Based on the Solihull Approach

Developed by Dr Hazel Douglas (Clinical Psychologist and Child Psychotherapist) and Dr Rebecca Johnson (Clinical Psychologist)

Solihull Approach

What is the Solihull Approach?

Want to build a positive relationship with your baby from the very beginning? The Solihull Approach online postnatal course is designed for parents and caregivers who want to learn more about sensitive and effective parenting. It supports mental health and wellbeing in parents, children, and older adults.

During the Postnatal Course parents are also helped to understand how they can influence their relationship with their baby through play. It also looks at your baby’s sleeping, feeding, crying and childcare options.
