This Module is about understanding your baby’s emotional development as well as their physical development. It is often easier to see physical development, as your baby grows and is able to do more.
But they are developing emotionally as well. Their relationship with you is crucial for learning how to manage their emotions, how to socialise with other people, how to talk, and later on, all about sharing and resolving conflict. All this lays the foundation for the rest of their lives and a large part of this happens through their interaction with you and through play!

Parents often ask ‘what do I do if my baby cries?’ and, as with many aspects of being a parent, the answer is not straightforward. Each baby and parent is individual and the reason for crying can vary. As you are getting to know your baby, there are times when you work out quite quickly what you think your baby needs and what you can do about it. At other times it can be more difficult to make sense of what your baby is communicating and you may feel uncertain or confused about what you can do to help your baby.
